Najia Hanna began learning the violin at the age of 3 under the tutelage of Helge Thelen. She is currently taking lessons with the former artistic director of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, William Hennessy, while studying in her second year of a Bachelors of Music.
A keen orchestral player, Najia is a member of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra where she held the position of Principal 2nd violin, and also a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra. She greatly enjoys playing in smaller ensembles such as string quartets and chamber orchestras.
Highlights include performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on the Andrea Bocelli tour of 2022 and playing at Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight on Channel 9.
Najia is employed as a violin tutor at Genazzano FCJ College, and enjoys working with young violinists and violists, whether in a school environment or through private tuition.
When not playing or teaching, Najia is a passionate reader! She enjoys hikes, baking, karate and road trips with her family/friends.
